New York, NY — Columbia University is seeking a head coach for its men’s and women’s squash teams.  Columbia’s squash teams will soon join the school’s varsity ranks.

Columbia University in the City of New York invites applications for the position of Head Men and Women’s Squash Coach and Associate in Physical Education.  Columbia University, founded in 1754, is a private, nonprofit institution serving more than 7,500 undergraduate students and 17,000 graduate students.  Offering programs in a variety of subjects, Columbia University has a stellar reputation and is ranked 8th among the nation’s top universities.

Columbia University is a member of the NCAA Division I and Ivy League.  The University fields teams in 29 intercollegiate sports and provides a comprehensive physical education program.  The University is committed to excellence in academics and athletics, gender equity and diversity in its programs, and a well-balanced, broad-based intercollegiate athletics program dedicated to the concept of the student-athlete.

Columbia University is a part of the Columbia/Barnard Athletic Consortium. Admission to undergraduate schools is based primarily on academic achievement and financial aid is awarded on the basis of need. As part of the Columbia/Barnard Athletic consortium student-athletes may attend Barnard College, Columbia College and the Fu School of Engineering and Applied Science. The women’s athletics program operates under an NCAA consortium arrangement whereby students from all intercollegiate schools of the Columbia University and Barnard College may be eligible for intercollegiate competition representing Columbia University.

The ideal candidate will possess the following:  a record of successful leadership in Squash, preferably at the NCAA Division I level; an understanding of the role of intercollegiate athletics in a highly competitive academic environment; strong recruiting, teaching, and coaching skills; an inherent ability to build and maintain positive relationships with student-athletes; proven abilities in fan, friend and fund-raising.  Dedication to the mission of the University and commitment to gender equity and diversity are essential.  A Bachelor’s degree is required.
