2016 College Squash Association National Team Championship Dates

Northampton, MA — The 2015 – 2016 season will welcome a new format to the National Team Championships. Traditionally, the women’s and men’s events were held on separate and alternating weekends at the end of February. For the 2016 Team Championships, the College Squash Association will move ahead with a one-year trial of combining the men’s and women’s events.

The first weekend, February 19 – 21, 2016, will feature men’s and women’s teams ranked 17th and below. The following weekend, February 26 – 28, 2016, the top-16 ranked women’s and men’s teams will play. Both team championship weekends will be held in New Haven, CT, with Yale University serving as the primary host.

The College Squash Association Executive Committees enacted the new format after consultation with elected member schools.  Elected member coaches exposed some key concerns surrounding the new format, including team and coaching logistics, scheduling of the events, and highlighting the both championship weekends properly. The College Squash Association will be addressing these issues throughout the upcoming season.

The Executive Committees believe the shift will provide a unique opportunity to showcase collegiate squash, celebrate the high level of men’s and women’s play, and provide a meaningful championship experience to all teams.

After the 2016 championships, feedback will be once again collected from elected member schools, and the Executive Committees will vote on whether to continue with the new format.
