2017 Men’s National Team Championships: Day 1 Evening Report

Cambridge, MA — The first day of the Men’s National Team Championships has come to a close.

A Division (Potter Cup): Top-ranked Trinity faced Penn to open their title run. As Penn head coach Gilly Lane told the Daily Pennsylvanian, “There is not a lot of room for error when you play these teams, but with the underdog mindset that anything can happen, and a focus on taking it one point at a time, we have a shot.” Despite the effort, the Bantams advanced with a 8-1 victory over Penn.

Harvard and Yale met just last Sunday. In Cambridge, the Crimson won the Ivy League title by defeating Yale, 5-4. Little did they expect to face the Bulldogs again five days later. In the rematch, Harvard defended their home courts with an 8-1 victory.

In tomorrow’s semifinals, Trinity will face St. Lawrence and Harvard will meet Columbia.
