Cambridge, MA — At the 2011 Men’s College Squash National Team Championships, Drexel and Fordham played in the consolation semis of the Serues Cup (“F” Division).

In the match at the number 6 position, Ken Fukumoto (Fordham) defeated Kevin Sacherman (Drexel) in five games (6-11, 6-11, 11-6, 11-7, and 11-9), which included a comeback from an 0-2 deficit.  As a team, Drexel prevailed 6-3 and went on to win the consolation finals against the College of Charleston.

Next season, Drexel will convert from a club program to a varsity program. Drexel recently hired coach John White, the former top professional player and Franklin & Marshall coach,  to lead the men’s and women’s teams.

  1. Thank you for publishing this article and photos! I remember watching Kevin play Kendall Fukumoto of Fordham that day, and after he won the first two games with ease, I assumed Kevin would go on to win the match. But Ken Fukumoto fought very hard and played some great squash to win the next three games and clinch the match. I am sure we will be facing Fordham in the seasons to come.

The Drexel Squash team had a good nationals in Boston this year. After losing to Boston University 2-7 in the 1st round , we defeated Fordham (6-3) and edged past College of Charleston (5-4) to win the consolation finals in the Serues Cup.

We look forward to next season under the direction of Head Coach John White.
