Hadley, MA — The New England Small College Athletic Conference (NESCAC) announced its winter 2010-2011 All-Sportsmanship Team earlier this spring.
Bowdoin’s Lauren Gesswein and Colby’s Harry Smith were both named to their third consecutive All-Sportsmanship team. Gesswein, Kate Pistel of Colby, and Pamela Hathway of Trinity also earned First Team All-NESCAC honors this season, as did Smith, Will Gruner of Williams, and Parth Sharma of Trinity. Mary Foster of Wesleyan and Valeria Koo of Tufts were selected to the All-Conference Second Team.
According to the NESCAC announcement,
The All-Sportsmanship Team is composed of one student-athlete from each institution for each sport and is selected by the players and coaches from their respective team for their positive contributions to sportsmanship.
The All-Sportsmanship Team recognizes student-athletes from each varsity sport who have demonstrated outstanding dedication to sportsmanship. These student-athletes exhibit respect for themselves, teammates, coaches, opponents, and spectators. They display sportsmanship not only as a participant in their sport but also as a spectator and in their everyday lives. Through their positive actions and examples, these student-athletes inspire others to adhere to the quality of sportsmanship that the NESCAC and the NCAA endorse.
Congratulations to the members of the 2011 NESCAC Winter All-Sportsmanship Team!
