Position Specification

ABOUT THE ORGANIZATION:
College Squash Association (CSA) is the governing body overseeing men’s and women’s
intercollegiate varsity squash in the United States. The CSA’s mission is to foster national
intercollegiate varsity squash competition in service to elevating the values of sportsmanship,
integrity, and fair-play for all student-athletes, coaches, and their affiliated institutions,
encouraging academic excellence and increasing the opportunities to play college squash.
The CSA is a subsidiary of U.S. Squash, a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization, and is governed by a separate Board of Managers (the “Board”), which includes eight independent members and four coach representatives. U.S. Squash provides operational support and institutional
governance mechanisms, including fiscal oversight.

ABOUT THE OPPORTUNITY:
The Executive Director of the CSA will serve as the driving force behind the organization’s
growth and success, providing strategic vision, organizational leadership, and donor cultivation.
Reporting to the Board and partnering closely with U.S. Squash and coaches from member
institutions, this individual is a dynamic leader with a proven track record in sports
administration, external engagement, and revenue generation.

Key Responsibility Details Include:

Organizational Leadership

  • Serve as the organization’s most visible spokesperson, advocate, and thought leader.
  • Develop and execute a clear vision for the growth, sustainability, and impact of college
    squash within the intercollegiate sports community, including a focused plan for the
    growth and support of member programs, including varsity and club teams.
  • Manage CSA staff, vendors, and operational partnerships with U.S. Squash.
  • Develop, maintain, and support a strong and diverse Board to ensure outstanding
    financial performance and a clear, mission-aligned strategic direction.
  • Oversee the college squash season (November – March), including membership
    invoicing, player ranking publication, incident report management, and execution of
    CSA’s marquee events (e.g., National Championships, Hall of Fame, Senior awards).

Fundraising and Revenue Generation

  • Develop and execute a comprehensive fundraising strategy, including corporate
    sponsorship acquisition, annual fund drive, and other revenue-generating opportunities,
    such as merchandise sales and licensing agreements.
  • Create a culture of giving among CSA parents, alumni, and stakeholders, including
    through the development of an annual fund and major gift initiatives.
  • Work with U.S. Squash CFO and the CSA Treasurer to provide fiscally-sound
    management and fiduciary oversight including prudently managing resources and
    budgets.

External Engagement

  • Serve as the chief liaison between member institutions, U.S. Squash, the Board, and
    other governing bodies (e.g., NCAA, Conference leadership, U.S. Olympic Committees).
  • Engage key stakeholders including school leaders, sponsors, student-athletes, coaches,
    and spectators.
  • Direct public communications and oversee a media strategy including through CSA’s
    website, live streaming, and social media.

ABOUT THE CANDIDATE
The ideal Executive Director will be a strategic and visionary leader with the ability to connect with and support a wide range of stakeholders including CSA and U.S. Squash staff, Board members, coaches, senior leaders, student-athletes, parents, alumni, and spectators. The successful candidate will be adept at cultivating donor engagement, developing strategic partnerships, and supporting high-profile events like the National Championships.

This is an exciting opportunity to build the future of college squash and the CSA is seeking an innovative and results-driven leader who will drive institutional outreach, launch coach
development and training, and serve as an advocate and spokesperson for the sport across the higher education and sports landscape.

RECOMMENDED SKILLS/BACKGROUND

  • Bachelor’s degree and at least 7 years of professional experience, ideally in a
    management role within sports administration or at a nonprofit organization.
  • Demonstrated success in fundraising and/or stakeholder engagement.
  • Strong interpersonal, organization, and communication skills, including in digital media
    (e.g., website, Instagram, LinkedIn, X/Twitter)
  • Experience in squash and/or interscholastic/collegiate sports administration, and
    knowledge of sports industry trends, regulations, and best practices.

COMPENSATION: The salary range will be $90,000 – $125,000. Salary and benefits are
competitive and commensurate with experience. CSA is an Equal Opportunity Employer.

LOCATION: Philadelphia, PA (hybrid work setting, weekend and evening travel/work required during season)
