Position Summary and Compensation Structure
We’re looking for a world-class squash professional who loves the game and has the energy and passion for teaching it to players of all ages and levels, an ability to lead a team, and a commitment to our mission of making the sport more accessible and affordable to the public.
The compensation structure will be commensurate with the experience of the pro, meet or more likely exceed the market in terms of salary and benefits and (for the right person) include other incentive-based compensation elements such as annual bonuses and/or long-term deferred compensation arrangements. Housing allowance will also be considered. We mean this to be a career, not just a job, and the role will expand as we do.
About The Squash Center, Inc.
The Squash Center is a non-profit organization with the primary mission of growing the game of squash by making it more accessible to the general public. We aim to open community squash centers in a range of locations, supplemented by low-cost outdoor courts and innovative partnerships that bring the game to underserved youth. We opened our first squash center – the Manhattan Community Squash Center – in 2020 in mid-town Manhattan, just blocks from Grand Central, and are actively scouting other locations.
About the Manhattan Community Squash Center
The Manhattan Community Squash Center (“Manhattan Squash” for short) is a state-of-the-art facility with five ASB courts, automated video recording, fitness area, pro shop, locker/laundry availability, and a café bar. In the short time we’ve been open, and despite the pandemic, we’ve built a thriving, diverse community of over 350 members: adults and juniors, recreational and competitive players, families and friends, who just hit for fun or who train seriously through our world-class programming. Over 25% of our membership receives economic subsidies, and we’ve partnered with the local social services organization Hudson Guild to introduce squash to underserved children in the Chelsea neighborhood. In short, Manhattan Squash exemplifies the model of community squash we aim to promote worldwide.
