MIT: 2018-2019 Men’s College Squash Season Preview

After spending several years ranked in the 30s of the CSA Men’s Team Rankings, MIT made a drastic jump to Number 21 in 2017.  Consistently performing at a new level can be just as challenging as getting there, but MIT was able to show that they are there to stay in 2018, finishing in 22nd position.  Entering the 2018-2019 season, Head Coach Thierry Lincou’s Engineers appear poised to maintain their recent run of success.  Nine of the ten players from the starting lineup at last year’s team championships return to the team this year, lead by sophomore Joe O’Connor and junior Vedaant Kukadia, both of whom were invited to participate in the CSA Individual National Championship tournament in 2018.  The starting roster only loses senior CSA Scholar-Athlete Jeffrey Hu, and Lincou brings in three first-years to add valuable depth to his squad.  The heart of MIT’s schedule will be a challenging stretch of matches in January when they take on Amherst, Wesleyan, Colby, Hamilton, and Bates in a six-day span. Survive that gauntlet, and the Engineers could be ready to compete for the Summers Cup or more.
