Geneva, NY — Hobart was a young but significantly improved squad last season. The Statesmen return their starting nine from Team Championships, and their roster will have two first-year players joining the squad. Head coach Tim Riskie states, “To improve in the rankings, we need to beat teams that are ranked ahead of us, and beat teams that are ranked behind us.” With the Liberty League Championship being moved from November to early February, the Statesmen’s key matches will be earlier this season. The sole senior on the team will be Danny Cabrera, who is entering his second season as captain. Cabrera, a Liberty League All-Academic team member, is an academic role model for the team. Riskie wants the entire team to “work daily at being the best team we possibly can be so that we can improve as students and squash players.” Look for Hobart to be fighting for a spot in the Summers Cup this season.
