Virginia: 2015 – 2016 Women’s College Squash Season Preview

Virginia, University ofCharlottesville, VA — Virginia is a young squad. In fact, there is not a senior on the team this season. The Cavaliers would like to shake up the college squash world and conclude the season ranked in the top 16. Jumping seven spots may be a challenge, but Virginia is putting together a schedule to accomplish this goal. During the regular season last year, the Cavaliers played many squads behind them in the rankings and two matches against teams that finished significantly ahead of them. To rectify this and showcase their talent, Virginia has overhauled their schedule this season. The team is planning trips to Massachusetts and Maine to play new regular season opponents. According to assistant coach Grant White, “All of our matches will be important but we certainly look forward to competing against traditional powers from the NESCAC. Beating several of these teams will be crucial to achieving our season’s goal of a top 16 finish.” Look for Virginia to be competing for a top spot in the Walker Cup (C Division) this season.
