Chapel Hill, NC — The University of North Carolina’s women’s club program is attempting to grow. After fielding a full roster and playing several matches during the 2013 – 2014 season, the Tar Heels had many players graduate or study abroad last season. The squad recognizes that this season will be a rebuilding year to get the program relaunched. Team captain Catherine Sullivan explains that “as many people in North Carolina are unfamiliar with squash, we are a fun niche group of students coming together. We have a mix of players who have never played before combined with players who were varsity captains of their high school teams.” Let’s hope that the emergence of squash at the University of North Carolina will assist with the growth of collegiate squash in the southern United States.
