St. Lawrence: 2015 – 2016 Men’s College Squash Season Preview

St. Lawrence UniversityCanton, NY — Topping last season may be challenging, but St. Lawrence is up for it. After all, in 2014 – 2015, they captured the Liberty League title, swept the Liberty League post-season awards, were ranked #1 in the nation at points during the regular season, and made it to the Potter Cup (A Division) final. This year’s squad will benefit from that experience. Helping the Saints overcome the loss of talented graduates, including four starters from last season’s Team Championships, will be four first-year student athletes, who are expected to compete for spots in the ladder. Last year, the entire line-up had solid win percentages, but to improve and position themselves for the 2015 – 2016 Team Championships, it would be beneficial for the middle of the Saints line-up have a comparable win percentage to the other areas of the ladder. Anchoring the top of the line-up will be Amr Khalifa, the 2012 – 2013 Pool Trophy (Men’s Individual) Champion. According to assistant coach Nikhil Seth, Khalifa, a two-time First Team All-American and three-time Liberty League Player of the Year, “exemplifies the highest levels of sportmanship, fair play, and academic achievement. He is a leader not only on our team but also within the St. Lawrence University community.” Look for St. Lawrence to compete for the Liberty League and national titles once again this season.
