Berkeley, CA — California Berkeley is in the midst of rebuilding. Last season was the first year of that endeavor. The team went to the Team Championships shorthanded and finished 10th out of 11 teams in the E Division. This season, the Bears are looking to improve. According to team co-captain Yan Liu, “This season, we plan to recreate and rebuild a concrete team that is more determined to complete competitively while being a close-knit team that can rely on each other.” For California to improve in the rankings, they need to play more matches against a variety of teams. With two players from last season’s Team Championships expected to be in this year’s starting 9, the Bears will be challenged. The team has five incoming players that will hopefully step up and fill the vacancies.
