Wellesley, MA — Wellesley College continued their gradual ascent up the rankings last season. Back in 2009 – 2010, the team won the E Division at Team Championships and earned the 33rd ranking position. Over the last few season, Wellesley has climbed the rankings, finishing last season as the 24th-ranked team in the nation. The Blue Pride captured their first Seven Sisters title since 2000 by defeating Mount Holyoke. For the 2014 – 2015 season, Wellesley will need to replace 3 of its top 4 players from last season’s Team Championships. With two recruits expected to enter the top four positions in the ladder, Wellesley may be able to replicate last year’s success. According to head coach Wendy Berry, the team is “committed to working hard, and excited about the upcoming season. They are a closely knit team who support and help each other through their matches unreservedly.” The team leaders this season will be Gabriella Wynne and Sarah Tammaro. Berry notes that Wynne demonstrates exceptional “willingness to work hard as a captain and has been supportive and helpful to me and the team of new players.” Tammaro enters her second year as a squash player. According to Berry, the double major in anthropology and camera studies is a “natural leader” and brings athletic ability from crew and swimming to the squad. Wellesley is focused on its matches with Colby, Bowdoin, and Mount Holyoke, which are all essential to achieving their goal of moving up the rankings.
