Princeton: 2012 – 2013 Men’s College Squash Season Preview

Princeton, NJ — Princeton saved the best for last in 2012. Down 4-3 to Trinity going into the final two matches in the Potter Cup final, the Tigers pulled out a spectacular come-from-behind win to become the first team other than the Bantams to win a national title since 1998. The other teams in the CSA also recognized the Tigers’ for their sportsmanship, naming them the 2012 Sloane Award winners. Last season will be a tough act to follow, and the Tigers will be without four seniors who had a big impact on last year’s squad. Todd Harrity, the 2011 individual champion, will be back at the top of the line-up, and he and Steve Harrington will co-captain the squad. Four new players will join the team. Vivek Dinodia is likely to play in the starting line-up, and  Michael LeBlanc and Sam Ezratty will be competing for spots in the top 9. Nic Barton will also be joining the squad. The Tigers will begin their campaign to repeat as national champions on November 17, when they host Franklin & Marshall. They’ll play Trinity, Harvard, Rochester, Dartmouth, and Penn at home, but they’ll play Yale, Cornell, and Western Ontario on the road. Princeton won’t have home court advantage again if they make it back to the finals, but the Yale match on February 2 will give them more experience playing in the Brady Squash Center. Will it be the Tigers’ dress rehearsal for a recapturing the magic of last season?
