John Wilson of Bryant University reports on his team’s match with Boston University on November 11th.
Boston, MA — Boston University hosted Bryant University at Agganis Arena in the visiting club’s season opener, and the home team claimed a 6-3 victory on an afternoon that saw four matches go to five games, with two of those matches decided in fifth-game tiebreakers.
Among the notable matches was Nick Brewer’s come-from-behind 3-2 win at No. 2 over BU’s Jack Chambers. BU returned the favor at No. 5 with Lu Quan Tan’s cool-headed five-gamer win over Bryant’s Dan Cournoyer. At No. 4, BU’s Asa Tyler took a 3-1 decision over Bryant’s Dana Parziale in a classic clash of styles that saw racket skills, ball control, and positioning trump quickness and never-say-die determination.
The five-gamers at No. 6 (BU’s David Scott defeated Bryant’s Casey O’Brien) and at No. 8 (BU’s Arush Sabherwal beat Bryant’s Marco Santacruz) were also crowd-pleasing highlights.
As of November 20th, BU is 2-1 on the season; Bryant is 0-1.
