2010-2011 Men’s College Squash Team Rankings (11/23/2010)

Northampton, MA — Today, the men’s College Squash Association released its second team rankings of the season.

The teams ranked in the mid-twenties had movement in the newest rankings. Denison lost to Georgetown (4-5) and Hobart (1-8) and Columbia defeated Georgetown 5-4.  These matches moved Hobart to 24th, Columbia from 33rd to 25th, Georgetown to 26th, and Dension to 27th.

Virginia and Johns Hopkins rocketed up the rankings.  With wins over Johns Hopkins, Vanderbilt, Drexel, and Lafayette, the Cavaliers moved from 46th to 35th in the rankings.  Johns Hopkins appears to have returned from its squash hiatus.  Last season, the Blue Jays, once a regular competitor in the CSA,  participated in the five-player Emerging Teams division at the Men’s National Team Championships.  With a full nine-player squad this season and wins over Bard, Swarthmore, Bucknell, UNC, Washington, and Fordham, Johns Hopkins went from unranked in the preseason to 36th.

Ivy League Scrimmages do not count as official matches and the results are not factored into the rankings.

Coaches and Team Contacts, please remember to enter your team’s results in the US Squash Scoring System on the day of each match. After warnings, MIT was removed from the latest rankings for failing to report match results in the US Squash database.  Presuming MIT’s results are posted, the team will be eligible to reenter the rankings at the next ranking release.

Teams are also reminded that College Squash Association annual dues must be paid by December 1st. Schools may pay their annual fee through the CSA’s online payment form. In addition, as stated in the Men’s College Squash Association Bylaws, each men’s team must complete six matches to compete in the Men’s National Team Championships. (This applies to teams intending to compete in the nine-player divisions at nationals and not to teams intending to compete in the five-player Emerging Teams division.)
