2010 Men’s National Team Championships: Day 2 Matches to Watch

New Haven, CT — If you’re heading to Yale, Wesleyan, or Choate for the second day of the 2010 Men’s National Team Championships, here are some matches not to miss:

A Division: Yale vs. Rochester, 3 pm, Yale courts 1, 2, 3. When these two teams met in January, Yale came away with a 6-3 win, with many matches going to four and five games. Yale is the home team, and a busload of Rochester fans are coming from New York to cheer for the Yellowjackets, so it should be a fun match. And the rematch of Trinity and Princeton at noon on Yale courts 1, 2, 3 should have some exciting match-ups as well.

B Division: Williams vs. Bates, noon, Yale courts 7, 8, 9. Will the third time be the charm for Bates, or will Williams pull away for good? The Ephs defeated the Bobcats 5-4 in January and 6-3 at the NESCAC championships in early February.

C Division: Stanford vs. Denison, 6 pm, Yale courts 4, 5, 6. The title of Top Club Team will be on the line when these two squads meet in the Summers Cup consolation semifinals.

D Division: Wesleyan vs. Connecticut College, 1:30 pm, Wesleyan courts 1, 2, 3. These teams have met three times this season, and Wesleyan leads their series 2-1. Can Conn even the score when it counts the most?

E Division: Kenyon vs. Washington, 9 am, Yale courts 7, 8, 9. Both these teams have made considerable improvements in the rankings this season. With a beautiful new facility, Kenyon may be a a team to watch in the future, and UDub is a player in the growing college squash scene on the West Coast.

F Division: Boston University vs. Virginia, 9 am, Choate courts 1, 2, 3. BU enters as the top seed in the Serues Cup, and the relatively untested Cavaliers played in the D Division last year.

G Division: Bard vs. Bryant, 3:00 pm, Choate courts 1, 2, 3. While Bard is the higher seed, Bryant won 5-4 when the two teams played in late January.

Emerging Teams: The Emerging Teams will be playing on Yale courts 14 and 15 all day. Stop by for a game or match and cheer on these new teams!
